Plus Size Yoga
Discover powerfully easy yoga asanas (poses). Learn simply how inhaling and exhaling consciously changes your attitude and view of life and calms the mind. Put your feet underneath you and stand strong, fully grounded, strengthening the body and opening to Spirit. Flick off tension, remove any blocks to being open hearted. Scan your body effectively and quickly noting without blame, shame or judgment where stuck energy still remains.
Yoga poses can be done by people of any size. Some poses need to be modified and sometimes props are required such as a firm cushion, a Yoga block or a long belt. When we combine Yoga poses (asanas), breath, and correct alignment, the body responds. You can stop when you feel the first resistance–do what is appropriate for you.
Accept where you are now. Meet your first resistance, the first hint of an owwie! Stay there. Do not bully your body rather listen to what it is saying to you. Your body is a great teacher and is stronger and smarter than you might imagine.

When to do the poses? Anytime you feel tense. Before an important meeting and anytime you want to become more alert and focused.
Combining Iyengar Yoga with its focus on the breath and Ananda Yoga with the spiritual affirmations makes this Plus Size Yoga a delightful experience. Plus Size Yoga has a easy flow from floor to standing, sitting then lying and allows time for a prolonged relaxation for integration and body awareness. Some students move to sitting on a chair as required and sometimes we do an entire class sitting to learn “at work” asanas. Thoughtfully designed sessions allow for grace and ease in learning the poses and how your body responds.
